Tomahawk Gin Smash

Ingredients:

  • 3 oz gin

  • Lime

  • Grapefruit

  • Fresh basil

  • 1 part rosemary-ginger simple syrup (recipe below)

Rosemary-Ginger Simple Syrup:

  • 1 cup water

  • 1 cup sugar

  • 2 sprigs rosemary

  • 1-inch piece of ginger, sliced


Instructions for Simple Syrup:

  1. In a saucepan, combine water, sugar, rosemary, and ginger.

  2. Bring to a boil, stirring until sugar dissolves.

  3. Reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes.

  4. Let cool, then strain and set aside.


Instructions for the Cocktail:

  1. Prep the ingredients: Dice the basil, lime, and grapefruit with your tomahawk for a rugged touch.

  2. Smash or mince: Either mince the diced ingredients with a mortar and pestle or place them in a bag and hammer them like a true adventurer.

  3. Prepare the glass: Fill your glass with crushed ice.

  4. Add fruit and basil: Place the smashed basil, lime, and grapefruit into the glass, ensuring to include any juices.

  5. Add simple syrup: Pour in 1 part of the rosemary-ginger simple syrup.

  6. Top with gin: Add 3 oz of gin over the fruit mixture.

  7. Stir and enjoy: Stir well to combine the flavors, then kick back and enjoy the smash.


Garnish:

  • Garnish with fresh basil and, for some fun flair, a tomahawk on the side!

This cocktail is as bold as its name and perfect for those who enjoy fresh, herbal flavors with a rugged twist.
