Tomahawk Gin Smash

Ingredients:
3 oz gin
Lime
Grapefruit
Fresh basil
1 part rosemary-ginger simple syrup (recipe below)
Rosemary-Ginger Simple Syrup:
1 cup water
1 cup sugar
2 sprigs rosemary
1-inch piece of ginger, sliced
Instructions for Simple Syrup:
In a saucepan, combine water, sugar, rosemary, and ginger.
Bring to a boil, stirring until sugar dissolves.
Reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes.
Let cool, then strain and set aside.
Instructions for the Cocktail:
Prep the ingredients: Dice the basil, lime, and grapefruit with your tomahawk for a rugged touch.
Smash or mince: Either mince the diced ingredients with a mortar and pestle or place them in a bag and hammer them like a true adventurer.
Prepare the glass: Fill your glass with crushed ice.
Add fruit and basil: Place the smashed basil, lime, and grapefruit into the glass, ensuring to include any juices.
Add simple syrup: Pour in 1 part of the rosemary-ginger simple syrup.
Top with gin: Add 3 oz of gin over the fruit mixture.
Stir and enjoy: Stir well to combine the flavors, then kick back and enjoy the smash.
Garnish:
Garnish with fresh basil and, for some fun flair, a tomahawk on the side!
